Inbound vs. outbound calls
In short
Inbound calls are calls that come in to you (customers call you). Outbound calls are calls your business places itself (you call out). The difference is the direction of the call.
Inbound: answering calls
Inbound is about reliably answering incoming calls - appointments, questions, orders. This is where an AI phone assistant shines, because it picks up every call instantly, even during a rush and outside opening hours.
Outbound: placing calls
Outbound is when the business actively calls out - for appointment reminders, callbacks or confirmations. An assistant can handle this too, so routine calls do not have to be made by hand.
Frequently asked questions
Mainly inbound: reliably answering every incoming call. Many solutions, including CallAssistant, can additionally handle defined outbound tasks such as reminders.
It sets the goal: inbound maximises availability and prevents lost calls; outbound automates active follow-up. Both save time on the phone.
